John Puckett's Dirt Scoop

Notes:

Drawings are not proportional nor drawn to scale.

All structural steel used is 1/2 X 2 except for final drive Plates and angles used to support dump rod handle. Scoop sides and bottom are 5/32 inch thick and formed from a single piece of steel. I recommend making bottom from heavier metal or reinforcing leading edge (mine is bent apparently from hitting rocks). Rear panel of scoop is 1/4 inch thick. Lip on rear of scoop is 90 degrees to rear panel of scoop. All pivot pins are 1/2 inch and welded in place. Measurements for pivot pin holes and dump handle are made to centers. Final drive mount shown is right side ( extension strap goes toward inside of tractor ). Left side mirrors right. Scoop attaches to front lower holes of final drives. Lift quadrant goes from rear rockshaft to ears on frame (see brochure.jpg). Ears on frame should be parallel ( 1/2 inch separation ) to each other, not spread apart as shown in photo. As the scoop lowers the front edge tilts downward to fill. As the scoop lifts the front edge tilts upward to help prevent load from spilling.

If you decide to build one be careful of changing any of the geometry.
